From the 7th to the 10th September 2026, Bibracte hosted participants in the international training course organised by the francophone international hub of the Réseau des Grands Sites de France. Now in its 10th edition, the course, entitled “Building the future of heritage sites together: designing and implementing sustainable management”, brought together 14 managers of natural and cultural sites from 10 countries across four continents, including Mauritius, China, Côte d’Ivoire, Tunisia and France. Held under the patronage of the French National Commission for UNESCO, it began online from 25 June to 3 July, continued with a study trip in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté from 7 to 10 September, and concluded on 11 September at the French Ministry of Culture in Paris.
During their stay at Bibracte, participants discovered the SECreTOUR pilot and the approach developed since 2021 under the INCULTUM and SECreTOUR programmes: the shared management of landscape resources and biocultural heritage with heritage communities, and the development of FACS tourism. The exchanges gave site managers from very different contexts an opportunity to compare their practices and discuss how commons-based approaches could be adapted to their own territories.
