If it works this project has the potential to be of global significance. Aiming to build a huge collaboration ECHOES is issuing a first call for stakeholders to get involved with funding of €60,000 per successful applicant.

ECHOES is establishing the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage, a collaborative platform that will transform how heritage professionals work together. At its core, ECHOES represents a paradigm shift from simply digitising cultural objects to creating true "Digital Commons" - collectively produced, semantically rich digital assets that will become "the heritage of tomorrow."

These semantically rich assets go beyond basic digitisation by including comprehensive contextual information. For example, instead of just a digital scan of a Renaissance painting, a semantically rich digital asset would include data on its creation techniques, historical context, artistic influences, material composition, restoration history, and connections to other artworks and cultural movements.

This digital environment will empower users to interact with Digital Twins in new ways, collaboratively developing scientific knowledge while breaking down the current fragmentation in the Cultural Heritage sector. By project end, ECHOES will unify results from EU and national heritage projects into a single sustainable platform, supported by a dedicated legal entity.

It looks an excellent project although I cannot see anything about citizen science contributions at the moment. I am probably missing it.
