On the 3rd of May 2025, CeRPHAAL organized a training activity with local cultural tour guides from the region of Përmet, in the Vjosa Valley. The focus was to present the participants with accurate scientific information derived from the ongoing research on the historical and archaeological heritage of the region.
The training activity took place in the field and involved visits to selected monuments and historical sites. Guides received historical background information on the key landmarks and were introduced to defined thematic itineraries designed to enhance cultural tourism in the area.
The aim, through the form of interactive field lecturing, is to improve understanding of the complexity of the historical landscape of the region and also to encourage reflection on the actions needed to strengthen the present and future preservation and protection policies on cultural heritage, an effort that becomes particularly important in the context of growing interest in tourism in the region.
This training activity marks the beginning of a broader effort to equip local guides with specialized knowledge about the cultural landscape of the area, supporting the development of informed and integrated cultural tourism approaches.
